The TMJ Pain Cycle
The TMJ Pain Cycle is characterized by a trigger event, chemical changes in the TMJ muscles, muscle soreness and spasm, inflammation, and resulting nervous system changes which perpetuate the cycle.

Trigger Event
The Jaw Pain Cycle is initiated by some form of trigger. For many people this 'trigger' is stress or anxiety which causes the individual to unconsciously tense the muscles around the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).

Chemical Changes
Unconscious tensing of the TMJ muscles lead to chemical changes in the muscles. TMJ ComfortPlus supports the relaxation of muscles helping prevent these chemical changes.

Muscle Soreness & Spasm
Without intervention from TMJ ComfortPlus, the chemical changes caused by unconscious muscle tension lead to muscle soreness and spasm.†

Inflammation & Pain
Continued muscle tension leads to inflammation which results in a natural pain response. The resulting Jaw Pain is what is commonly known as TMJ.

Nervous System Change
Pain triggers anxiety, stress, and changes to the nervous system which perpetuate the Jaw Pain Cycle.
